Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Peace be with you! As you may know, I have been blessed to minister to youth, college students, and young adults since being ordained a priest in 2007. In fact, my first assignment was as the first director of College and Young Adult Ministry for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. The bishop, Archbishop Daniel Buechlein, charged me to form an office and outreach for our young Church. For the past 16 years, I have been blessed to serve as chaplain of the campus of IU and PU Indy and help grow the faith of our Youth and Young Adults of our diocese.
I share this as a calling I continue to receive from Archbishop Thompson. When assigned here at Prince of Peace and Most Sorrowful Mother of God, he asked me particularly to continue to build up the young church through youth, college, and young adult ministry. Thankfully, this community already does so many great things to support our Catholic Schools youth, and we will continue to do so! In addition, we are seeking to invest more fully in our youth who are in public schools or home-schooled. We are also working to build up a culture of lifelong faithful living on the Campus of Hanover and in our young adults (post-high school and college) in both Jefferson and Switzerland Counties.
Investment in the Young Church comes in many forms. As a parish, I invite you to help grow the faithfulness of our youth and young adults with a monthly gift to this ministry. This will allow us to grow our ministry team, provide socials and great catechesis and formation for all our youth, college students and young adults! What better way to leave a legacy than by investing in the Young Church?
Each month, there are several ways you may give to this ministry:
- If you receive an Envelope Packet, there is a yellow envelope included specifically designated to Youth & Young Adult Ministry.
- You may also give on this website by clicking Online Giving at the top of this page, click Youth & Young Adult Ministry. This will direct you to the giving page.
- And finally, each month, we will take up a second collection at all the Masses for this worthy endeavor. The first time for us to do this collection at the Masses will be February 21-22. This will takes the place of the 50/50 drawings.
Thanks so much for your generosity! Your investment in the Young Church will change lives eternally!
In the Spirit,
Father Rick Nagel
Pastor, Prince of Peace (Madison, IN) & Most Sorrowful Mother of God (Vevay, IN) Parishes,
